G. Long Held Tuesday Morning Succumbs Sunday at Vicksburg Hospital Following Long Illness Mrs. Mallie Jordan Long, beloved wife, mother, sister and daughter, passed away Sunday night, May fourth, just two years exactly after returning to her home on Banks Plantation, after an absence of twenty-five years. Death occured in Mercy Hospital, Vicksburg, Miss. Mrs. Long had been ill for two years, and her devoted family and friends are grieved at her going. She was 46 years old and a native of Madison Parish, having been born on Banks Plantation, where she made her home for the last two years. She was a graduate of Tallulah High School, All Saints College, Miss., and Louisiana Polytechnic Institute, Ruston, La. After her graduation she taught school in Madison Parish until her marrige to Robert Glenn Long in 1928. After several years residence here, they moved to Chicago, Illinois, and later to New York City where Mr. Long was employed by American Air Lines. Mrs. Long was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and a past president of the Presbyterian Auxiliary. Funeral services were held at the Tallulah Presbyterian Church at eleven o'clock Tuesday morning, with Rev. Lloyd O'Neal of Ruston, Home Mission Superintendent of the Red River Presbytery, officiating. Interment followed in the Silver Cross Cemetery. Mrs. Long is survived by her husband, R. G. Long, one daughter, Glenna L., her mother, Mrs. Louise Graves Jordan; one sister, Mrs. Andrew L. Sevier; and three brothers, Mr. Ben Jordan of Tallulah, Mr. George W. Jordan of Baton Rouge, and Mr. Francis Jordan of Pitkin, La. Pallbearers were her three nephews, Andrew L. Sevier, Jr., Howard S. Sevier, and Warren J. Sevier, and her three cousins, W. P. Sevier, Barton Sevier and James Sevier.
