Larry Stafford officiating. Burial will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Joy was born February 20, 1944 to Roy and Vivian Rushing of Transylvania LA and departed this life on October 8, 2002, after a lengthy illness. She was an angel in waiting, waiting for wings to fly, when she returned to be with her Lord and Savior and joined his flock forever, where she will know no pain or sorrow and will be comforted like no one here can imagine, and that alone will now becomes an angel to watch over her family and guide them. Joy was a loving wife, mother and a wonderful grandmother (Mimi) a caring sister to her brothers and sisters, some of whom are angels waiting for her, and aunt. She was so loved by her family and her friends. If love could have healed her, she would have lived forever. She was the owner and operator of Joy’s Hair Styling, where she retired due to health problems. She attended school at Tallulah elementary and Tallulah High School. She was preceded in death by her parents; Roy and Vivian Rushing; sisters; Evelyn Rushing Machen and Rachel Faye Rushing; brothers; Emmette Edward, Eugene, Kenneth Ray, and Roy Lee. Survivors include her devoted husband and the love of her life, Glen M. Walker, Jr.; Daughters; Dacia Lady of Monroe, Tanya Reeves of Baton Rouge, and Dawn Means and her husband Steve of Prairieville, LA; Step-daughters and their husbands, Melissa and Brent James, and Melinda and Jeremy Morris; brothers and sister-in-laws; Houston and Shirley Rushing of Great Falls, Mt. Thomas and Henrietta Rushing of Midwest city, OK and Ronald and Jane Rushing of Jackson MS: sister and brother-in-law; Zelpha and Billy Smith of Monroe; Grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Steven Lady, Amanda Reeves, Krystal Reeves, and Stacey Patterson; Step-grandchildren; Haley Morris and Cole James; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Brandon Smith, Matt Rice, Randy Smith, Bryan Boney, Kyle Smith, and Steven Lady. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
