Cleveland Fruge'. ------------------------------- Judge Fred Fudickar, Jr. was appointed by the Governor of Louisiana on February 19, 1971 to fill the unexpired term of Judge Lea S. Thompson, Division "A" of the Fourth Judicial District. Prior to his appointment to the office of District Judge, Judge Fudickar had served as District Attorney for the Fourth Judicial District during the years 1948 through 1954. From 1956 - 1971 he was a member of the law firm of Oliver, Fudickar & Wilson of Monroe. He also served as attorney to assist the Inheritance Tax Collector of Louisiana for approximately three years. Judge Fudickar received his high school education in Ouachita Parish High School. Subsequently he received his B.A. degree from the University of the South, Swanee, Tennessee. He received his legal education at Harvard Law School and Tulane College of Law. He practiced law in the City of Monroe from September, 1938 until his appointment to the Fourth District bench, with the exception of the years 1940 through 1946 when he served in the U.S. Navy, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander, USNR. He participated in the invasions of Casablanca, Anzio, Sicily, South France and Okinawa and in the occupation of Japan. He is the son of Fred Fudickar and Bessie B. Johnston of Monroe and was born in Monroe on November 18, 1915. He is married to Rosalie Riley and their children are: Frederick William, James Riley, Robert Ernest and Charles Patrick Fudickar. Judge Fudickar is a member of the Pi Kappa Phi Social Fraternity, a past president of the Monroe Kiwanis Club and of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and is a member of Jesus the Good Shepherd Church (Catholic). He is a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Monroe Housing Authority. Judge Fudickar's hobby is golf.
