Perkins, 8-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Perkins of Bastrop, was instantly killed about 4 p.m. Tuesday when he was run over by a truck loaded with pulpwood. The accident, described as unavoidable by Chief of Police C.C. Walton, occurred in front of the office of the Morehouse Enterprise on South Washington street. According to reports, the Perkins boy and several other children were playing in the vicinity when the Perkins boy ran into the street in front of the truck, which was said to have been operated by a Mr. Riles who lives near the Arkansas line. Both front and rear wheels of the truck were said to have passed over the boy's body.
