Johnny Legg officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, prior to the service, beginning at 1 PM. Mrs. Blackman, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022, at the age of ninety-two. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Mrs. Blackman was a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family. Loving yard work, she would spend hours working in her yard. Mrs. Blackman was also an avid New Orleans Saints Football fan, never missing a game! She is survived by her daughter, Janet Blackman Harper; brother, Mack Mayo and wife Virginia Thompson Mayo; grandchildren, Michelle “Shelly” Stewart Brabston, Breanna Harper Ellis and husband, Jordan; great grandchildren, Taylor Brabston Bounds and husband Jansen, and Lauren Brabston; great-great grandchild, Sadie Brooke Bounds; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Blackman is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Blackman; daughter, Judy Blackman; parents, Mack and Lillie Mae Mayo; siblings, Buck Mayo, Bessie Hayman, Odell Gilbert, J.D. Mayo, Pete Mayo, and Norris Mayo; and nephew, Billy Hayman. Serving as pallbearers are: John H. Harper, Randy Mullins, Bill Johnson, Christopher Hayman, Michael Hayman and Jansen Bounds. The family wishes to thank Dr. Carter Cox, Jr., staff of Morehouse General Hospital, and staff of St. Francis Specialty Hospital for their loving care of Mrs. Blackman.
