The following day, Stalling was arraigned before Justices Parker, Fulow, and Naff. A considerable number of witnesses were examined, which occupied the time of the court two days. There was no one present at the time the fight took place, and judging from Stallings declarations and the circumstantial evidence, he was justifiable in killing Blankenship. The Court, it seems, entertained a different view of the matter, as appears from the decision. he was bound over in the sum of $500, and yet he was tried and convicted of murder. It seems to us, that inasmuch as he was found guilty of imbueing his hands in the blood of the deceased, the prisoner should have been imprisoned until the next term of the District Court instead of admitting him to bail, which is tantamount to turning him loose, inasmuch as we understand tha law to prohibit Magistrates from taking Bonds in cases of this character, and any so taken are therefore null and void. - Morehouse Advocate.
