BASTROP, LOUISIANA

Pearline Virginia Thompson Brister was born at Sikes, Louisiana on February 19, 
1931 to the late Evie and Iley Robert Thompson.   She passed away peacefully, 
surrounded by her family, on November 17, 2022 at her home in Sterlington, 
Louisiana.  Along with her parents Mrs. Brister is preceded in death by her 
husband, Homer Dean Brister, her daughter, Mary Beth Brister, a son, Robert 
Delane Gentry, and a grandson, Robby Dean Gentry.



Ms. Pearline is survived by her sons, Homer DeWayne "H.D." Brister and his wife, 
Beverly of Farmerville, Louisiana, Barry Dean Brister and his wife, Tami of 
Sterlington, Louisiana, and daughter-in-law, Debra Gentry of Sterlington, 
Louisiana.  She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, 
and a host of extended family.



Mrs. Brister was known for her graciousness and kind spirit.  She was a beloved 
and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her family and a blessing to all 
fortunate to know her.

 

A time of visitation for Mrs. Brister will begin at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 
21, 2022 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop followed by funeral 
services at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral Home with her son, Bro. Barry 
Brister officiating.  Committal services and burial will follow at Memorial Park 
Cemetery of Bastrop under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. 



Serving as pallbearers are Jacob Brister, Zachary Brister, Gabe Brister, Carson 
Bush, Eric Bush, Jared Williams, Logan Prine, and Aiden Prine.
