Funeral services celebrating the life of Ms. Shirley Jean Cable will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 28, 2022 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with Bro. Bob Lonadier officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery of Bastrop under the direction of Cox Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 12:00 P.M. until time for services on Friday, January 28th, at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Shirley Jean Cable was born at Dumas, Arkansas on September 18, 1934 to the late Milton Eugene Conrad and Clara Bell Williams Conrad. She passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 24, 2022 at her home in Bastrop. Along with her parents Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Mike Cable, and her brother-in-law, Harry Terrell. Ms. Cable was a member of Southside Baptist Church of Bastrop where she served as church secretary for many years. She was also the owner of Cable's Control Kit until her retirement in 2013. Ms. Shirley held a deep love and devotion for her sons and grandchildren. She loved each one unconditionally. Holiday were a special time for Ms. Shirley especially Christmas. She made each Christmas celebration special with her homemade decorations and her many holiday sweets which she was famous for. She left a lasting legacy of Christmas to her grandchildren by sewing each one of them a Christmas stocking. Her fudge, divinity, and popcorn balls were always a favorite holiday tradition she shared. Even family far from home were known to receive her popcorn balls through the mail. Ms. Shirley had an abundance of love to share. She never met a stranger and if she did they were not a stranger for very long. Ms. Shirley possessed a gentle spirit and a beautiful smile, she had a life well lived. Ms. Cable is survived by her sons, Milton Cable, Leland Cable and his wife, Sherry, Robert Cable, and Kerry Cable and his wife Fran; and her sister, Melvalyn Terrell. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Tiffany Cooper and husband, Ray, Michelle Easom and husband, Marcus, Ashley Cable and wife, Kathryn, Amy Glen, Kristy Pulkrabek, Nicole Puckett and husband, Chris, Ryan Cable and wife, Nickie, Conrad Cable and wife, Emerald, and Kaden Cable; and ten great-grandchildren.
