Funeral services honoring the life of Jerry Lynn Cain will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Sterlington with Bro. Ben Hackler and Bro. Dennis Hackler officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Saturday, January 29th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Jerry Lynn Cain was born November 26, 1947 at Bastrop, Louisiana the only child of Cecil Cain and Vonceil Gordon Cain. He passed away peacefully at his home in Sterlington, Louisiana on January 26, 2022. Along with his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his uncles, Vernon Cain, Edward Cain, and Clayton Cain. Jerry was a retired Captain with the Bastrop Fire Department and a veteran of the United States Air Force Reserves. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, an all around outdoorsman, and a two time world record holder in out-board speed boat racing. Jerry possessed a servant's heart and he was always willing unconditionally to help family and friends in their time of need. Above all else, Jerry was a beloved husband and father and a devoted son. He will be missed by all fortunate to know him. Jerry is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Penny Cain, and his sons, Logan Cain and his wife, Kennedy, Justin Cain and his wife, Ashley, and Shane Cain and his wife, Jennifer. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Alexis Cain Lewing and her husband, Joey, Jase Cain, Tyler Cain, and Spenser Cain; along with a host of extended family and friends. Serving the family as pallbearers are Jamie Fortenberry, Ricky McDonald, Cody Cain, Jason Anderson, Ted Grimes, Vince Faulkenbury, Larry Elkins, and Bruce Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Herring, Steve Martin, Don Waren, and Wilbur Weeks. For those who wish, the family suggest memorials in Jerry's name be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
