Andy Myrick and Rev. James Moffitt officiating. Mr. Carruth passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Carruth served on the U.S.S. Proteus Mother Ship Submarine Tender. He did his basic training in Bainbridge, Maryland and served in the North Atlantic, Newfoundland, Greenland and Iceland. Mr. Carruth was a 32nd Degree Past Master of the Mt. Gerizim Lodge #54 in Bastrop and a Millwright for Brown and Root for over fourteen years and worked for the Sheriff Dept. for many years. He was also an avid Ford tractor mechanic. Mr. Carruth is survived by his wife, Doris Carruth; daughters, Linda Carruth Dimaya, Alice Hogan and husband O W Hogan, Jr., Debbie Brunson and husband Jim; sons, Monty Carruth and wife Karen, Wade Carruth and wife Dottie, and Jeff Brunson; sisters, Joann Caroll and husband Frank, Jane Carroll and husband Lyndell, and Delores Gilbert; brother, Danny Shores; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; special cousin, Merle Hogan; three special friends, David Anderson, Jerry Brewster and Buster Pettis. He will be remembered by numerous foster care children who knew him as "Uncle E". He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Myrtis Carruth and Walter Everett Carruth, Sr.; step-parents, Mitchell Carruth and Cortez Carruth; sisters, Helen Pierce, Willeen Norsworthy, Mary Sue Berryman, Linda Shores and brother, Louis Carruth. Honorary pallbearers will be John Hogan, Matt Carruth, Trey Turner and Bobby Guy Ray. The family would like to thank Premier Hospice and Chaplain Andy Myrick; nurse, Katie; social workers, Suzette, Betty and Betsy; CNA's, Ella and Anna. A special thanks to Dr. Carter Cox, longtime Physician and friend. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from 11 AM - 1 PM at Golden Funeral Home.
