A resident of Bastrop, Louisiana and a native of Crossett, Arkansas, Katie died Thursday August 5, 2010 at Glenwood Medical Center in West Monroe from complications related to Multiple Sclerosis. She was a 1970 graduate of Bastrop High School and graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1973, then pursued her masters degree at Southwest Texas State in San Marcos. MS restricted the use of her limbs, but not her mind and never her can-do spirit. She is survived by her mother, Natalie Bolton Chapman of Bastrop; her brother, Will Chapman and wife Gladys, of New Iberia; brother Nathan Chapman of New Orleans; sister Mary Bowler and husband Bryan of West Monroe; nephews Adam and Daniel Chapman of New Iberia and Victor Bowler of West Monroe; nieces Catherine and Ann Marie Bowler of West Monroe. She was preceded in death by her father, William S. Chapman and grandparents, Nathan and Mary Bolton, and Edmond and Alberta Chapman. Pallbearers will be Dennis Alonzo, E.L. Gladney III, Barry Rhodes, Boots Farrar, Maurice Raphael, and Larry James. The family suggest memorials be sent to the LA Chapter/National MS Society, 4613 Fairfield Street, Metarie, Louisiana 70006.
