COX FUNERAL HOME 
BASTROP, LOUISIANA 

Brenda Kay Chappell was born February 23, 1946 at Monroe, Louisiana to the late 
Ray Davison and Marie Parks Davison. She passed away peacefully, with her 
children by her side, on August 28, 2019 at her home in Bastrop. Brenda was 
preceded in death by her husband, Harold Chappell. A lifelong resident of 
Bastrop, Brenda was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and a longtime employee 
of Dr. Carl Turpin's dental practice. She was a virtuous woman with a sweet 
spirit and a loving heart. Brenda was a beloved and adored wife, mother, and 
grandmother. She is survived by her children, Fran Chappell Johnson and her 
husband, Keith and Matt Chappell; her two loved granddaughters, Hillary Sawyer 
and fiancee, Sean Simpson and Hayden Johnson; a brother, Paul Davison; and 
numerous extended family and friends. The family will receive friends for a time 
of visitation beginning at 3:00 pm Thursday, August 29th, at Christ Episcopal 
Church of Bastrop, followed by a service celebrating Brenda's life at 4:00 p.m 
at the church with Reverend Christie Fleming officiating. Committal services and 
burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral 
Home of Bastrop. Serving as pallbearers will be friends and family. Honorary 
pallbearer will be Dr. Carl Turpin, Jr. For those who wish, the family suggest 
planned memorials be made to Christ Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 52, Bastrop, 
Louisiana 71220 or to the charity of one's choice.
