Funeral services for Mr. James Albert Chunn will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Bonne Idee Assembly of God with the Reverend Jerry Stuckey officiating. Interment will follow at Mer Rouge Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop. James Albert Chunn was born November 12, 1939 at Oak Ridge, Louisiana to the late Albert Chunn and Lexie Morgan Chunn. He passed away surrounded by his family on December 30, 2011 at his home in Mer Rouge, Louisiana. Mr. Chunn is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Jean Goyne. Mr. James was a member of the Bonne Idee Assembly of God and a Deputy Sheriff with the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Department serving as President of the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Mounted Patrol, and a member of the Mt. Gerizim Masonic Lodge. He also retired with over twenty-four years of flying as an Agriculture pilot. Mr. Chunn is survived by his wife of fifty years, Shirley Chunn of Mer Rouge; his children, Pam Ferrell and husband, Cliff of Mer Rouge, Kristi West of Bastrop, and Chris Chunn and wife Rhonda of Mer Rouge; four grandchildren, Chassidy Ferrell, Skyler Ferrell, Amber Hart, and Adam Hart; one great- granddaughter, Ainslee Pruitt; six brothers and sisters, Billy Joe Chunn & Wilma, Shirley Ann Wallace and Kenneth, Delores Watson, Victor Ray Chunn, Phyllis Butler and Tommy Ray, and Rosemary Owens and Johnny; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers are Gary Freeman, Dr. Allen Spires, Roger Robinson, Sr., John Lewis, Joshua Daigle, and James Mardis. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Department Mounted Patrol. For those who wish the family suggest memorials be made to the Morehouse Parish Cancer Fund, P.O.
