Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Holley Coody, 90, of Bastrop will be held at 2 

p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop, with 

the Rev. Leonard Garlington officiating. Interment will follow in New Forest 

Cemetery in West Carroll Parish under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.



Mary Holley Coody was born April 17, 1917 in East Point, La. to the late 

William Henry Holley and Mary Weems Holley. She died Saturday, January 5, 2008 

at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.



Mary was a member of the Pioneer Methodist Church and also of the Order of the 

Eastern Star.



Mrs. Coody is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Reba Crowe; two 

sisters and three brothers.



Mrs. Coody is survived by her two daughters, Mary Churchwell and husband Jack 

of Bastrop and Holly Chestnut and husband Leonard of Clarksville, Ark.; nine 

grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-

grandchildren.



Serving as pallbearers are Phillip Windham, Jessy Goodwin, Joel Lewis, Dennis 

Butler, Wayne Holley, and Jeff Mize.
