Farrel Rd., Lafayette, LA 70508. Art was 81 when he passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022. The family requests that visitation be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Martin and Castille's Funeral Home, 600 E. Farrel Rd., Lafayette, LA 70508. A private interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Bastrop, Louisiana at a later date. Deacon Keith Duhon will conduct the funeral services. Left behind to cherish his memory is his daughter, Regina Coyne Outlaw; his daughter Gabrielle Dotterweich and her husband Rick; his daughter Shannon Parsell and her husband Rich; his son, Rick Furman and his wife Margaret; his son Jeff Furman; his grandchildren Gerald Holt, Thomas Holt, Patrick Coyne, Matthew Urban, Amanda Urban, Ashley Dotterweich, Briana Dotterweich, Carl Dotterweich, Blaise Parsell, Lindsey Duplantis, Sara Furman, Adrienne Doucet, Nick Furman, Claire Furman, his 10 great-grandchildren, Hannah, Luciana, Olivia, Owen, Everett, Elise, Emilia, Barrett, Weston, Emmylee; his sister, Joyce Edwards; his sister, Ruth Ann Chain and her husband George; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog named Beau.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 29 years, Mrs. Claire DiFulvio Coyne and his parents, Arthur Emile Coyne and Emma Bowers Coyne.He was born and reared in Bastrop, LA. After leaving Bastrop he answered the call of this great nation and joined the Army National Guard and served from 1958 to 1962. He then joined the NY National Guard where he served from 1964-1973. During his service in the military he performed many jumps and this is where he discovered his love for flying. Upon honorable discharge from the military he would eventually pursue a career as a corporate pilot. He retired from Oil and Gas Rental Services as their chief pilot. Some of his hobbies included reading, competitive shooting, riding his Harley, playing guitar, playing banjo and playing mandolin. Although Art had many interests in life, his passion in life was his family.
