She passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025 at The Columns of Bastrop, Louisiana. Along with her parents Betty is preceded in death by her husband, James Clinton Crouch; and three siblings, Edward Crosby, Edna Callais, and Roosevelt Crosby. Betty's life was full of love for her family. She had a multitude of hobbies such as crafting, cooking, playing her guitar, entertaining, and her love of pottery. Betty loved working with her hands and was naturally creative. These talents led her at the age of 60 to attend ULM where she fell in love with making hand built pottery. She was even chosen to go to Epcot in Florida to represent the state of Louisiana with her pottery talents. For the last 27 years she has touched many lives of people around the world with her pottery creations, along with teaching her craft and sharing her talents with others. Betty was always the life of the party and as everyone knows she absolutely loved the attention! She was born in Golden Meadow, Louisiana and lived there until she was 18. After marrying James Crouch and travelling around they settled in Bastrop, Louisiana and made their home. She became actively involved in the community while also raising her family. She was a candidate and campaigned for police jury, published a Cajun cookbook, was a teacher's aide with the Bastrop High School Band proudly earning the title of "Band-Aid", and an active member and stage actor at the Rose Theatre. Betty was devout in her faith and a devoted member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church for over 60 years. Her legacy of faith, love, and laughter will be missed by her family and all fortunate to have known her. Betty is survived by her two children, Donna Spence and her husband Gene of Bastrop, Louisiana and Carson Crouch and his wife Rhonda of Sterlington, Louisiana; and a sister, Clementine "Tiny" Duet and husband Harold. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Justin Spence and wife April, Miranda Harper and husband Chad, Derek Spence and wife Erin, Morgan Crouch, and Makayla Crouch; eight great-grandchildren, Cane Harper, Olivia Harper, Brock Spence, Blaine Spence, Phoenix Albritton, Aden Matthews, August Matthews, and Rylan Costin; The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00 PM at the church with Father Kelby Tingle officiating. Committal services and burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery of Bastrop under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Serving as pallbearers for Ms. Betty are Glen Hendrix, David Beauvais, Randy Hanks, Allen Toups, and her grandsons Justin Spence and Derek Spence.
