COCKRELL Funeral services for Mr. Harold H. Cockrell are scheduled for 10 AM, Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Elder Ricky Myers and Rev. Alan Eppinette officiating. Interment will follow at the Mer Rouge Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2015, from 5 - 8 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Cockrell, age 69, was a resident of Bastrop and a retired instrument technician at Koch Nitrogen plant. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam war and attended Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Oak Grove, where he was song leader and shared his beautiful voice which he was well known for. He loved doing tractor work and gardening and would do anything possible to help others in need. Mr. Cockrell is survived by his wife, Linda K, Fruehwirth Cockrell; daughters, Rhonda Eppinette and husband Kevin of Bastrop; and Cynthia Hayden and husband James of Bastrop; son, Joseph Cockrell of Bastrop; sisters, Barbara Lynch of West Monroe, LA, and Linda Sue Harkness and husband William of Houston, TX; and grandchildren, Gavyn Hayden, Bella Hayden, and Chayse Cockrell. He is preceded in death by his parents Julian and Lillian Cockrell; brothers, Jerrell Cockrell and Ronald Cockrell; and sister, Elaine White. Serving as pallbearers will be James Hayden, Kevin Eppinette, Joey Cockrell, Rob Hayden, Mark McKane and William Harkness. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Farrar and Dr. John Coats. The family would like to thank Dr. John Coats, Margie Ray and Ronnie Young for all the care that they gave Harold.. “They were a blessing to us.” They would also like to thank Gamble Hospice for their care.
