DEFREESE JR. Funeral services for Mr. Clayton P. “Sonny” DeFreese, Jr., age 63, of Bonita, LA, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Brothers, Newton Smith, Francis Smith and Bob Lonadier officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a VFW last rites service to be held from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. DeFreese was born May 29, 1949 and passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at his residence. He was a 1971 graduate of Bastrop High school, a 1997 graduate of Northeast Louisiana University with a BA in Journalism. He was an active member of Horseshoe Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army and in the Louisiana National Guard 1967-1991. He was a veteran of the Vietnam and Persian Gulf War. Mr. DeFreese was a life member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post 2277 Bastrop, American Legion Post 51, Disabled American Veteran’s Chapter 8; Vietnam Veterans of America, AMVETS and the Acadiana Chapter 82nd Airborne Division Association. He served as Post Commander, District 13 Commander and State Commander from 2007-2008. Mr. DeFreese is survived by two daughters, Sherri Lynn Redd; Patricia Leigh Redd; two sons, James Clayton DeFreese, Elvis Wayne DeFreese; father, Clayton P. DeFreese, Sr., brother, Thomas L. DeFreese; 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; a niece, a nephew; 3 great nieces and great nephew. He is preceded in death by his mother, Aline “Bonnie” Ann DeFreese and his sister, Mary Golden DeFreese. Serving as pallbearers are: the Bossier City VFW Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers are: Anthony DeFreese, Reggie DeFreese, Eddie DeFreese, Marshall Stephens, Mike Silks and Timmy Snow.
