Cindy, the daughter of Bob and Dorothy Driggers, was born on October 12, 1974 in Ruston, Louisiana. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia when she was 22 months old and was a patient at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for many years. While a patient at St. Jude’s, Cindy met the founder, Danny Thomas and many other celebrities. She is survived by her parents, Bob and Dorothy Driggers of Tallula, Illinois; her faithful friend "Charlie,” great-aunt, Edna I. Bingham of Rapid City, SD; Uncle Hilton Yates and wife Regina of Plano,Texas; Aunts Katherine Tubbs of Bastrop, Peggy Bonner and husband Jimmy of Starkville,Miss. and Barbara Amy and husband Larry of Austin, Texas; and cousins Mike Tubbs and wife Cassundra, Steve Tubbs and wife Dee, Chris Bonner, Tyler Yates, Jennifer Amy, Zachary Tubbs, Sarah Tubbs, Murphy Tubbs, Brian Bonner, Will Bonner, Derrick Harper, Tanner Harper and Jacob Post and wife Courtney. Cindy attended Sally Humble Elementary School in Monroe and the Louisiana Special Education Center in Alexandria. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tallula, Illinois. Though she was handicapped in body and mind, her spirit burned brightly and was a blessing to all who knew her. She never knew the meaning of the word complain and loved to give gifts to those she loved. She also enjoyed attending church, traveling with her aunts, eating out, needlepoint and solving puzzles. Cindy never met a stranger and was loved by all who met her. She had an excellent sense of humor; her laughter and smile lit up the room and, even when she was in pain, Cindy could be counted on to bring a sense of joy and child-like wonder to any occasion. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop with funeral services following in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Grove, Louisiana. Serving as pallbearers will be Cindy’s cousins, Mike Tubbs, Steve Tubbs, Chris Bonner, Tyler Yates, Jennifer Amy, Zachary Tubbs, Sarah Tubbs, Murphy Tubbs, Brian Bonner, Will Bonner, Derrick Harper and Jacob Post.
