She was born in Bryson City, N.C. on June 8, 1930 and died at St. Francis North Hospital, Monroe, after a very brief illness. There will be a visitation with the family Thursday, Dec. 4 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 620 East Madison in Bastrop. A private burial service will be held on Friday. Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop, is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Duncan is survived by her husband of 58 years, Pastor Alfred Duncan; a daughter, Mrs. Tommy Lea Culp of Bastrop; a son, Brian of Culpeper, Va.; and a son, Joel of Des Moines, Iowa. She is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Jerry Duncan was the very role model of a Christian woman and a faithful and supportive pastor's wife. She was a devoted Mother and served the Lord and her family in many sacrificial ways. She loved the Lord and faithfully served him as a homemaker and as well as a worker in church. She had a great love for missions and served local churches and associations as a mission leader. She was a good student of the Scriptures and an excellent teacher. Her family especially knew her as a woman devoted to prayer. "Her children rise up and bless her, her husband also and he praises her." She was a quite and unassuming woman but a tower of strength. The family request that memorial gifts be designated to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions and sent to First Baptist Church, 620 East Madison, Bastrop, LA. 71220. Memorials may also be given to your local Gideon Memorial Bible Fund, or to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, P.O. Box 6012, Albert Lea, MN. 56007-9826.
