White officiating. Burial was held in the Bonita Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation was held Saturday from 5-9 p.m. Mrs. Freeland, 80, died Friday, Jan. 12, at Morehouse General Hospital. She was born in Wilmer, Ark., and spent most of her adult life as a resident of Mer Rouge. She was a retired Morehouse Parish School teacher, active member of the Mer Rouge Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women. She served as a local officer and on the state committee for the Order of the Eastern Star. She served as the High Priestess for the Ladies Oriental Shriners. She was well known for her community volunteer service and for her love of cooking for her family, friends, and organizations. Survivors include her husband, O.D. Freeland; son and daughter-in-law, Joe David and Joyce Henderson of Jena; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Dan Browder of Tyler, Texas; four brothers, her twin brother the Rev. R.V. White of Monticello, Ark., Doyle White of Monroe, Clifton White of Crossett, Ark., and Prentiss White of Monticello; three grandchildren, Cyndy Apricina of Hoboken, N.J., Michael Hanbery of Denver, Colo., and Christy Wilson of Jena; four great-grandchildren, Kade Wilson, Katherine Wilson, Stephanie Apricina and Virginia Hanbery; and numerous nephews and nieces. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Hanbery, Matt Perdue, Dan Browder, Bill White, Louis White and Bobby White. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Moss, Lester Langley, Bob Stewart, Laverne DeFee and Harles Creech.
