Tensas Gazette
Town Marshall Shot and Killed.
  Sheriff Parker of Monroe, has been notified of the killing of Town Marshall 
B.G. Gardner at Oakridge [sic], in Morehouse Parish.  No details of the 
killing are obtainable except that a man named Harris, who did the shooting, 
was a stranger there and that the tragedy was the result of the Marshal's 
attempt to arrest the man.  Harris is in jail.

Additional Comments:
Bartlett G. Gardner was buried in the Oak Ridge Baptist Cemetery.  He is the 
first known line of duty death in Oak Ridge.
