He was born January 15, 1925 in Jones, Louisiana to Kent and Ouida Raspberry Goodwin. He served in World War II as a nose gunner in the United States Air Force and received the distinguished flying cross due to his service. He graduated from the University of Arkansas where he received his masters degree. Later he reenlisted in the Air Force and completed jet pilot training to receive his pilot license. Mr. Goodwin returned to Louisiana in 1959 where he taught and coached at Bonita High School for most of his career. He touched the lives of many of his students and players. His love of hard work kept him active working at his home, on his property and in his pecan orchard. Mr. Goodwin is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Goodwin; parents, Kent and Ouida Bell Raspberry Goodwin; great grandson, John Clarke Perry and nine siblings. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Bryan and husband Bubba of Monroe, la, Donna Laseter of Monroe, LA, Debbie Mattice of Bastrop, LA; grandchildren, Tina Koeshall and husband John, Alana Louviere and husband Jason, Mandy Lynn and husband Wade, Holley Perry and husband Jonathan, Shawn Mattice, Laci Rae Mattice; great grandchildren, Zachary Lynn and wife Brittany, Hunter Cheek, Devyn Lynn, Laiken Lynn, Emarie Perry, Ella Michael Perry; great great grandchildren, Reilly Lynn, Zayden Lynn; brother-in-law, Buster Hoggard and wife Velma and numerous nieces and nephews. Private memorial funeral services will be held at a later date at the Northeast Louisiana Veteran Cemetery.
