Funeral services are being held at 2 p.m. today for Gordon Grant Sr., 74, well known businessman who died unexpectedly Monday morning. Services are being conducted by the Rev. Ira Robinson in First United Methodist Church. Interment was set for the Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Grant died at 9:50 a.m Monday in the emergency room of Morehouse General Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was a native of Eros, La had owned Grant's Ace Hardware store for nearly 40 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Bastrop Rotary Club, He had been an active participant of the Bastrop-Morehouse Chamber of Commerce and MAGIC, an industrial corporation. He was survived by his wife, Myrtle F. Grant; one son, Gordon Grant Jr; four sisters, Mrs. Elma Davis of Magnolia, Ark, Mrs. Lela Harper of Eros, Mrs. Marie Slaton of Savannah, Ga, and Mrs. Doris Buckley of Texas; and seven granchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Philip Grant, Gregory Grant, G.G. Grant III., Peyton Grant, Prentiss Grant, Kevin Cockrell and Blaise Domino. Honorary pallbearers will be the Christian Fellowship Class of First United Methodist Church.
