While our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing that her body is free of pain and whole again. Mary was born April 6, 1935 in Oak Grove, Louisiana to Arthur Lee and Eunice Kathryn Lewis. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by two sons, Steve Anderson Black and Bryan Anderson Black; and a brother, Larry Wayne Lewis. She really was the absolute best Mama and Mammaw we could have ever asked for!! Mary never missed a chance to tell us and anyone listening, how proud she was of her family - she was especially proud that all of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids know Jesus and will be with her in Heaven one day. That meant everything to her!! Mary was tough as nails but had the biggest heart. You always knew where you stood with her. She's been saying for awhile that she was ready to go be with Jesus, but she trusted His plan asking Him for "a little wiggle room" while she was still here. Mary married Fred Black when she was sixteen and to that union was born four little boys; Steve Anderson, Bruce Anderson, Brent Anderson and Bryan Anderson Black. Her world revolved around those boys and they never doubted her love for them. Sadly little Steve and Bryan's lives were short here on earth and what a beautiful site it must have been able to see her babies run into their mama's arms! Mary leaves a large legacy of family that includes her sons; Bruce Black (Rhonda) and Brent Black; four grandchildren, Melissa Greene (Wade), Stephanie Coker (Wesley), Aimee Ferriss (Jonathan) and Bradley Black; ten great- grandchildren, Carson Fowler (Michelle), Lilli Fowler, Mia Fowler, Braylyn Greene, Kason Coker, Kannon Coker, Kyler Coker, Krosslee Coker, Ella Ferriss and Graham Ferriss; and great-great-granddaughter, Nova Black Lark. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Porter and brothers, Buddy Lewis and Arthur Lewis. A celebration service, for family and close friends, honoring and remembering Mary's life, will be held on Saturday, October 25th, at 4:00 pm at The House Church LA, located at 3121 Sterlington Road, Monroe, Louisiana.
