Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with the Reverend E.L. Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in the Causey Cemetery. Mrs. Hammel was a longtime resident of Morehouse Parish and worked at the school cafeteria in Beekman for a number of years. She is survived by one son, James A. Hammel Jr. of Beekman; one daughter, Virginia Hammel of West Monroe; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Morin of West Monroe and Mrs. Erma Standard of Stuttgart, Ark. Serving as pallbearers will be J. Douglas Bickley, Jay Blakeney, Alton Calhoun, L.V. Norris, George Chain and Jimmy Chain.
