Mike Alexander officiating. Visitation will be held from 6- 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13. at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana. Dr. Harp died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004. Corley Funeral Home is in charge of services. Dr. Harp, age 76, was born in Mer Rouge Louisiana. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Corsicana where he served as Sunday school teacher and also served on numerous boards. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre in the Philippines. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in Football in October of 2003. He was a teacher, coach, and later an administrator for many years. He was chosen as one of the top ten principals in the U.S.A. Harp was a member of NASSP & NSC. He retired form Corsicana Independent School District in 1990 as Principal of Corsicana High School, and later served on numerous charitable boards. Dr. Harp is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Barrett Harp of Corsincana, Texas; daughter Dorothy J. Harp of Tyler, Texas; two sons, Thomas Y. Harp, III and wife Tammie Oakley Harp of Wills Point, Texas and William R. and wife Kathy Brewer Harp of Naples, Texas; two grandsons, Nicholas Y. Harp of Naples, Texas and Thomas Y. Harp, IV, of Wills Point; granddaughter Hayley E. Harp of Naples, Texas; sister Laura J. Waters of Shreveport and numerous nieces and nephews.
