GARY LYNN HARPER

BASTROP, LA. Funeral services for Mr. Gary Lynn Harper will be held 2:00 p.m. 
Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with Bro. 
Joey Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery 
under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Gary Lynn Harper was born in Bastrop, Louisiana November 25, 1954 to the union 
of Willie Ray Harper and Versie Duplissey Harper. He passed away, surrounded 
by his family, on March 27, 2014 at his home in Bastrop. Gary is preceded in 
death by his father and a great-nephew, Pryor Wrigley Akin.

Gary was the water operator for Water Works #1 in Bastrop. He enjoyed golfing, 
fishing, riding motorcycles, and cheering on the L.S.U. Tigers to victory. His 
greatest love on earth was his family and the time he spent with them and his 
friends. A loyal friend, Gary was a man of his word. He was always someone you 
could count on. If anyone ever needed help, Gary was always there.

He is survived by his wife of forty years, Sandra Harper of Bastrop; his two 
children, Jennifer Hughes of Bastrop and Brian Harper of Monroe, Louisiana; 
and two grandsons, Cameron Hughes and Colby Hughes. He is also survived by his 
mother, Versie Harper of Bastrop; a sister, Beverly Akin of Moore, Oklahoma; 
brother, Ronnie Harper of Bastrop; a special friend and co-worker, Patty 
Aulds; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Ted Grimes, Tony Knight, Marvin Bolding, Danny 
Courson, Shane Reynolds, and Steve Yarbrough. Honorary pallbearer is Ray 
Wilkerson.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday, March 29th, from 5:00 p.m. until 
8:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
