HAWKINS Funeral services for Martha J. Hawkins of Westville, Indiana, formerly of Chesterton, Indiana, will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2001, at 10 a.m. at Edmonds and Evans Funeral home in Chesterton, Ind., with Pastor Scott Ellis officiating. Interment will follow in Chesterton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 31, from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Edmonds and Evans Funeral home at 517 Broadway in Chesterton. Mrs. Hawkins died on Monday, Jan. 29, at Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso, Ind. She was born on July 5, 1934, at Paoli, Ind. She was a member of First Christian Church and was employed as an accountant/bookkeeper at Roundy's. She was formerly active in the Boys and Girl Scout organizations. Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Hawkins and her brother Freddie Ray Breeden. She is survived by her three sons, David H. Hawkins of Bastrop, Gerald R. Hawkins of Westville, Ind., and Phillip M. Hawkins of Boone Grove, Ind.; three daughters, Deborah L. Hart of Hoboken, New Jersey, Rachel D. Roccia of Cannelton, Ind., and Marcella G. McNally of Valparaiso, Ind.; one brother, Edwin Breeden of Indianapolis, Ind.; four sisters, Carol Brandlein of Conroe, Texas, Shirley Storch of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Evelyn Clements of Bloomington, Ind., and Susan Pollard of Bloomington, Ind.; ten grandchildren, Maria Hawkins, Jennifer Beschinski, Jonathan, Timothy and Christopher McNally, Cheryl, Brandon and Mellisa Hawkins, Joseph and Sarah Roccia; and two great- grandchildren. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Porter Country Cancer Society.
