Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held Thursday, prior to the service, beginning at 10 AM. JoAnna Baker Henry was born on March 17, 1935, in Stephenville, Texas, and passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023, in Monroe, Louisiana. She was surrounded by her three children when she passed. Mrs. Henry loved her children and grandchildren above all else. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Bastrop, Louisiana. JoAnn, as she was known by everyone, was the 10th child of Ida and Marshall Baker. She ultimately had 11 brothers and sisters (Herman, Vera, Floy, Zola, Daisy, Troy, Bill, Preacher, Gretchen, Aileen, and one unnamed who died at birth.) The family made their family home in Big Spring, Texas, where JoAnn grew up. She was the first of her family to graduate high school. She worked at Zales Jewelry Store in downtown Big Spring after school. While there she met the love of her life, Edward Russell Henry, who was working at nearby Montgomery Ward. Edward asked her out for coffee one day, and JoAnn declined. However, he was persistent and three weeks later they were married. They remained happily married for the next 63 and a half years. Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, and her loving husband, Edward Russell Henry, who passed away on May 17, 2019. She is survived by her three children, Joni Noble James and her husband Matthew Henry James of Monroe, Louisiana; Richard Albert Henry of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; and Brian Henry and his wife, Sharon Henry of Sterlington, Louisiana. Her grandchildren are Laura Brown and husband, Dillon of Tega Cay, South Carolina; Jack Henry Noble and wife, Sondra of Brentwood, Tennessee; Richard Albert Henry II, Raeghen Alyse Henry, and Madelyn Noele Henry of Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Great grandchildren are Helena Elizabeth Noble, Emery Louise Noble, Harrison Edward Samuel Brown and Henry James Cole Brown. The family would like to especially thank the staff at Azalea Estates Assisted Living Center who lovingly took care of our Mom for the last two and a half years.
