HOPKINS Funeral services for Mr. W.L. Hopkins (Dub), age ninety-eight, are scheduled for 2 PM Monday, October 30, 2023, at Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Britt Dupree and Bro. Andy Myrick officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Log Cabin. Visitation will be held Monday from 1 PM until 2 PM service time at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Hopkins, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed on Thursday, October 26, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and will be remembered as a loyal worker. He retired from International Paper Co. as a pulp mill operator and was a member of the Morehouse Riding Club and Morehouse Parish Sheriff Mounted Patrol. He also was a proud veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Hopkins had a passion for bird hunting and taking care of his horses. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his sons; Jimmy Hopkins and wife Paula of Minden, Rodney Hopkins and wife Kathy of Bastrop; grandchildren, Derek Hopkins and wife Shannon, Summer Turner and husband Brad, Stefanie Ingram and husband Micah, Ryan Hopkins and wife Lorrie; great grandchildren, Landen Hopkins, Baylee Hunt, Preston Ingram, Jocelyn Ingram, and Aurora Ingram. Mr. Hopkins is preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve (G.V.) Hopkins; parents, Wallace and Velma Hopkins; sister, Gerry Milby and husband J.L.; brother, Onie Hopkins and wife Vivian; grandson, Chad Hopkins. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Carter Cox, Premier Hospice and his special care givers, Mitzi Smith and Katrina Thompson for all of their care and compassion. Serving as pallbearers will be Derek Hopkins, Ryan Hopkins, Brad Turner, Micah Ingram, Preston Ingram, Danny DeBlieux, Billy Morton and Todd Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Landen Hopkins and Roger Jones.
