Tim Post officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday at Golden Funeral Home. Joyce Ann Pringle Howie was born in Bastrop, Louisiana to Arthur and Catherine Pringle on October 24, 1940 and passed away in Auburn, Alabama on July 29, 2023 surrounded by her children. She attended Bastrop High School, graduating in 1958 and later attended NLU. She worked as an administrative assistant and in medical billing over the years. Joyce also attained her civil aviation private pilot’s license and loved to fly in her early years. Her passion was saving animals. Whether she found them stray, along the side of a road or they were abandoned at her house; they automatically had a new home, a warm bed and plenty of food. Joyce loved living on the Ouachita River, watching the river flow and the many boats and barges that went by daily. She also had a green thumb and could grow anything. She loved being in her yard planting the flowers she found along the roadside. In her later years she became very artistic with her coloring. Her great- granddaughters referred to her as the “grandma with colors”. Even in her final months, Joyce entertained the caregivers and nurses at the retirement home. She was always laughing, joking, and telling everyone about her adventures. Mrs. Howie is survived by her daughter, Leesa Travis and husband Bill of Opelika, Alabama; son, Steven Howie and wife Donna of Lexington, South Carolina; grandchildren, William Travis and wife Karen of Auburn, Alabama, Christopher Howie and wife Nicole of West Monroe, Louisiana, Sarah Howie of West Monroe, Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Liam Travis, Apryl, Albi and Jaxson Howie, Riley Howie and her cherished cats, M&M, Speckles, Tigger and Puddy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Catherine Pringle; son, Michael Scott Howie and her sister, June Pringle Mattison. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Robinson’s Rescue for the account of Shaver Feline Rescue, 2515 Line Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71104, or Neighborhood Vet, 111 Professional Dr., Attn: Leah Stewart, West Monroe, LA 71291.
