Scott Petrus officiating. Interment will follow in Lone Cedar Cemetery in Franklin Parish. Visitation will be held Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Howington, a resident of Bastrop and retired sales person, passed away Friday, August 1, 2008 at LeGrand Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. For more than 40 years she was active in teaching Sunday School classes from nursery to adults. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and caregiver to many children after retirement. She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Howington; two sons, Bennie Ray Howington, James Ray "Buddy" Howington; two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Doris Houck and husband Bill of Bastrop; six grandchildren, Jeanie Owens and husband Gary, Bennie Ray Howington, Jr. and wife Mary, Jimmy Howington and wife Connie, Tim Howington, Stephen Houck and wife Pam, Joan Pugh and husband Mark; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great- great grandchildren; and two great-great-great grandchildren. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
