John "Steve" Stephen Hughes

A memorial service for Steve Hughes is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 
15, 2026, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, 2308 Sterlington Rd., Monroe, 
LA 71203, with Pastor Mark Finn officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 
P.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Steve grew up in Bastrop, LA, and moved to Texas for work in 2000. Steve loved 
working with his hands and making something out of nothing. He liked woodworking 
and making unique candles as gifts for his daughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Huey and Edith Hughes; his brothers, 
Keith Hughes and Philip Hughes; and his dear cousin and best friend, Gary 
Hughes.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Rachel Hughes Allen and husband John; 
granddaughters Remy and Renly Allen; sister, Cathy Hughes Mauer and husband 
Scott; sister, Stephany Hughes Griffith and husband Gary; and his brother, 
Christopher Hughes and wife Erica.
