She was born on November 14, 1928 to Robert Norman and Martha Columbia (Lummie) Calhoun in Oak Grove, LA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Grove LA. Visitation will be from 10 AM until 11 AM with a memorial service immediately following. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Robert Lee Underwood and Willie Lee Hylender, brothers, Earl, Willie, Hubert, Roy and Clayton Calhoun, sisters, Tressie Gunter, Gladys and Dorothy Harper and Edna Jarnevic. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Jack (Martha) Underwood of Mize MS, Lola (Michael) Gray of Gulfport MS, Martha Orndorf of Magee MS, Debra McClain of Dillsburg, PA and Mickey (Michelle) Underwood of Carlisle, PA. her sister Stella (Dolly) Miley of Baton Rouge, LA, 12 grand-children, 14 great- grand children and a loving host of nieces and nephews. To know Ruby was to be loved by Ruby. She truly had a servant's heart, her smile, laughter, wit and the sparkle of her beautiful blue eyes would brighten and fill every room. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Alzheimer's Association MS Chapter, 207 W. Jackson St., Suite F, Ridgeland, MS 39157. The family would like to thank the staff at Arrington Living Center in Collins, MS and Gentiva Hospice for their compassion and service during her stay at their facility.
