Jim Benbrook officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery Mrs. James was born September 23, 1933, in Memphis, TN and passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse A. James, Jr., her infant son, Jesse A. James, III, her parents, William Burt May and Jettie Rebecca Finch, and her sisters Joyce Eileen May Stewart and Elizabeth Nell (Betty) May Ingram. She is survived by her three children, Gordon Lee James and wife Susan of Choudrant, LA, Glenn Richard James and wife Monisa of Baton Rouge, LA, and Patricia Louise (Lisa) Spikes and her husband Dennis of Bastrop, LA, her siblings, Harriet Catherine (Kitty) May Brooks, Frances Roberta May Knott, and William Burt May, Jr., her grandchildren, Anna James Zeigler, Jessica James Griffin, Matthew Dennis Spikes, Erich William Spikes, Adam Lee Spikes, Emma Kay James, and Benjamin Thompson James, and her great-grandchildren, Reagan Elizabeth Zeigler, Donald Henry Zeigler, IV, Madison Leigh Griffin, Michael James Griffin, Matthew Grant Spikes, and Abbigail Rose Spikes. Mrs. James was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bastrop, LA. She retired from the Sears Roebuck Company in 1989, freeing her up to spend more time fishing with her husband and spoiling her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bridge, working crossword puzzles, drinking coffee, and shopping with her daughter. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. The family wishes to thank Dr. James Michael Smith for his kindness and care. Memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church of Bastrop at 310 S. Washington St., Bastrop, LA 71220. Erich Spikes, Adam Spikes, Matt Spikes, Ben James, Trey Zeigler, and Heath Griffin will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 5, 2018, from 5PM until 7PM at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop, LA.
