Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery. Mr. Johnson retired from International Paper Company as an operating mechanic with forty-one years of service. He was a member of Central Church of Christ. Mr. Johnson was a loving father, grandfather and a good neighbor. He was often interrupted from his evening nap by his children or neighbors requesting the keys to his shop where he kept a supply of tools, nuts and bolts, nails fishing poles and hooks. He could fix anything with nothing. Mr. Johnson enjoyed hunting and fishing and was known around town as “Fisherman”. He also loved and raised all kinds of animals. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Peggy Ann Lusby Johnson; son, Charles Ellis “Chuck” Johnson, Jr. and wife Debby of Amissville, VA; daughter, Pamela Johnson Stokes of Bastrop;; grandchildren, Daisy Johnson Mills and husband Don, Kristy Smith and husband Tommy, Vinson Stokes and wife Jennifer, Hartley Stokes Doyon and husband Donnie and Brance Stokes; great grandchildren, Montana Johnson Dixon, Skye Smith, Landon Smith, Beaux Mills, Levi Mills, Ava Stokes, Nathan Stokes, Jason Doyon, Issabelle Coleman and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Milton Johnson and Ethel Hartley Williamson Johnson; brothers, J.W. Johnson, Woodie B. Johnson, James Louis “Junior” Johnson and Irie Johnson; sisters, Irene Fife, Janelle Best and special nephew, J.M. Johnson. Pallbearers will be the men of Central Church of Christ. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 5 PM - 8 PM at Golden Funeral Home.
