DURAN ALLEN JOHNSTON


Funeral services for Mr. Duran Allen "Ranny" Johnston, Sr., age 72, are scheduled
for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Jim
Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will
be held from 10 - 11 a.m. Saturday.

Mr. Johnston, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Rapides
General Hospital. He is preceded in death by his father, Linton Allen Johnston;
mother, Miriam Honey Johnston Tyler; and adoptive father, Olen Dean Tyler.

Mr. Johnston was a retired construction project manager and a veteran of the Vietnam
War. He attended First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Adult 5 Couples
Sunday School class. Mr. Johnston enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping,
golfing, and cooking. He loved his LSU Tigers and NASCAR, but his greatest love was
for his family. He will be remembered as being a "true giver", always thinking of
others first.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda McCormack Johnston; son, Duran Allen
Johnston, Jr. and wife Michelle; daughter, Kelly Johnston Greenwood and husband
Bart; sister, Maydra Johnston Pomeroy; grandchildren, B.J. Greenwood, Tyler
Greenwood, Justin Johnston, and Jessica Johnston.

Serving as pallbearers will be Don Honaker, Guy McCormack, Todd McCormack, Andrew
McCormack, Bryan Greenwood, Michael Honey. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Magee,
Horace Chaney, George Winnon, Larry Fryday, and Andy Coats.
