Phillip Wayne Kirby of Bastrop, Louisiana, a retired from the Department of Defense, was born February 10, 1937 in Haworth, Oklahoma. He went home to be with Jesus on March 18, 2014. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Goodwill Church of God near Oak Grove, Louisiana with Reverend Jason Strong officiating the services. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time for services. Mr. Kirby proudly served in the United States Army, Air Force, and Navy. He loved the Lord, his family, and friends. Phillip was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening, grilling, and cooking. He is preceded in death by his father, Purtam Kirby and mother, Evelyn Dixon. Survivors include the love of his life, his wife, Diane Kirby of Bastrop, Louisiana; his daughter, Phyllis Kittredge and her husband, Jim of Bethany, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Frank Kaminski of Rockport, Texas, Shane Kaminski, Michael Vega, and Andrew Vega all of Kansas City, Kansas, April Crim and her husband, Scott of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Nathan Harmon of Wilson, Oklahoma, Emily Harmon and her husband, Taylor of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Brooke Kittredge of Bethany, Oklahoma. Mr. Kirby is also survived by seven great- grandchildren; his sister, Jo Deleon of Seagoville, Texas; mother-in-law, Arvial Lee McIntyre of Oak Grove, Louisiana; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Glenwood Regional Medical Center ICU and the Louisiana LTAC Hospital staffs for their care of our loved one. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations or memorials be made to The Shriner's Children's Hospital, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, Louisiana 71103 or to the charity of your choosing.
