Saturday, February 27, 2016, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Shrock officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Mr. Laing, a painter/contractor of Bastrop, LA, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at the age of 56, after a long lengthy illness. He was known as a "river rat" because of his love for the water. He enjoyed everything from water skiing to playing horseshoes. Mr. Laing was saved and baptized at Oasis Church where he had been attending faithfully whenever he was able. He loved spending time with his friends and family and will be truly missed. Mr. Laing is survived by his son, Tyler Cheek of Bastrop, LA; brother, Michael Laing and wife Jeanine of Bastrop, LA; nieces, Angie Johnston and Danielle Kindrix, both of Bastrop, LA; nephew, Chris Laing of Bastrop, LA; and his special friends who were with him throughout his time of need, Ted Grimes and Wayne Florence. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Billy Laing; and sister, Cindy Laing.
