DAVID M. LAYTON


Funeral services for Mr. David M. Layton, age 58, are scheduled for 10 AM
Wednesday, August 29, 2018 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Revs. Jerry
and Rita Stuckey officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove City Cemetery.
Mr. Layton, an avid hunter and fisherman, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018.
He enjoyed baseball, sports and traveling to the beach. Mr. Layton loved to see
people smile and be happy.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Layton; daughter, Brooke Young and husband
Jonathan; son, Brandon Layton and wife Meghan; and sister, Carolyn Tharpe and
husband Bill, all of Oak Ridge, LA; grandchildren, Connor Lively, Emma Kate
Layton, Cullen Lowery and Jaxson Young.
Mr. Layton is preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Jean Lowery Sumner;
father, Wilford Layton; step-mother, Dot Layton; maternal grandparents, Ward and
Willie Mae Mosley Lowery; and paternal grandparents, Luther and Pearl Phillips
Layton.
Serving the family as pallbearers are Tommy Barham, Terry Little, Jobie Tharpe,
Austin Rookard, Jeff Kennedy and Jason Gray. Jerry Eades, Kaden Tharpe, and
Jason Tharpe will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 5 PM - 7 PM at Golden
Funeral Home.
