Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 22, from 5 PM until 7 PM at Golden Funeral Home. Born September 15, 1923, Mrs. Lewis left this life peacefully on February 20, 2015 after a lengthy and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 91 years young. Clotelle was a 1940 graduate of Bastrop High School. She was a member of Central Church of Christ in Bastrop. She enjoyed traveling, vacationing, gardening and visiting with her children and grandchildren. Over many years, she worked at Snyder's Thrift Department, Seligman's, Howard Brothers and Wal-Mart. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter C. Lewis known to many friends as "Chew Tabacco;" son, John L. Lewis and infant son Mickey Lewis. Survivors include daughter, JoAnn Lewis (Laing) of Bastrop; son, Walter G. Lewis and wife Cathey of Swartz; grandchildren: Genetha Carmardelle and husband Beau of Pearl, Mississippi; Edward Lewis of Kansas City; Paul Lewis and wife Serena of Terrell, Texas; Charity Vocker and husband Trey of West Monroe; Kayla Lee and husband Brandon of Sterlington; Malcolm Laing and wife Christina of Shreveport; Jessica Diamond and husband Danny of Haughton; Jon Claire Handal and husband Michael of Dallas, Texas; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by many friends and family. Pallbearers will be Bo Carmardelle, Danny Diamond, Malcolm Laing, Michael Handal, Eddie Lewis, Paul Lewis, Brandon Lee and Trey Vocker. The family wishes to thank Dr. Cox, staff of The Arbor and the Terrace and First Choice Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of our Mother during her illness.
