Colonel Tommy Mansfield, 41, died Saturday in Pittsburgh, Va. of an apparent heart attack. Lt. Col. Mansfield was the brother of Barbara Mansfield, guidance counselor at Bastrop High School. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Rayville. The body will lie in state at the church tomorrow until time for services. Arrangements will be under the direction of Simms and Gundy Funeral Home of Rayville. Col. Mansfield resided in Clinton, Maryland and served with the U.S. Air Force in Washington D.C. He was on an assignment at the Virginia base at the time of his death. Col. Mansfield had been with the Air Force for over 20 years. He wa a member of the First Baptist Church of Rayville. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Barbara Mansfield of Clinton, Md. a daughter, Michelle Mansfield of Clinton, one son, Eric Mansfield of Clinton; his parents, Reverend and Mrs. L.G. Mansfield of Rayville; one sister, Barbara Mansfield of Bastrop; two brothers, Luther G. Mansfield Jr. of Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. and Reverend Andrew Mansfield, Grambling, La.
