McKie, a citizen of Bastrop, La., was drowned in the Washita river on the 19th ult. The deceased and several other gentlemen were drawing a sein in a shallow part of the river, when they suddenly got into a hole of considerable depth and separated, and each one tried to regain the shore, which they all succeeded in but two of the gentlemen, Mr. Klady and the unfortunate gentleman who was drowned. Mr. Klady, in attempting to rescue McKie from a watery grave, came very near losing his own life.
