PHILLEY Funeral services for Mr. Thomas M. Philley, age 89, of Bastrop are scheduled for 10 AM Saturday at Greenacres Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Campanale and Rev. Gerald Gates officiating under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Mr. Philley is survived by his children, Thomas Wayne Philley and wife Beth of Bastrop, Douglas Ray Philley of Mer Rouge; Grandchildren, Marya Winnon and husband Jeff, Andrew Philley and wife Michelle, Claire Senn and husband Brad, Samantha Foley and husband Brandon, Jeff Philley and wife Heather, Jody Philley and wife April, Jessie Philley; great grandchildren, Haleigh Hatley, Clay Thomas Winnon, Crosby Senn, Morgan Philley, Brady Senn, Andrew Philley, Sam Philley, Bella Foley, Jude Henry Foley, Cross Senn, Bailey Philley, Layton Philley, Hannah Philley, Hayden Philley, Alyssa Philley, Caleb Philley; sisters, Calice Irby, Dottie Pace, Renee Barmore, Nancy Russ and husband John, Linda Barkely, Patsy Smith and husband Harold and Gail Mize. Thomas grew up farming in West Carroll Parish, and in his heart he never stopped. He farmed, mostly "on the side", for years into adulthood. Gardening with his old Allis Chamlers was his pleasure until he could no longer physically do it. Also learning carpentry, he built nine houses over the years while working at International Paper Company. Thomas loved his church (Greenacres) where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clabe and Katie Philley; wife of forty-three years, Delois Bagby Philley; wife of twenty-two years, Opal Sadler Woodall Philley; brother, Paul Philley: sisters, Clara Bell Hopper and Judy Philley. The family wishes to say a special "Thank you" to the Northeast LA War Veterans Home employees and staff, Lagniappe Nursing Home employees and staff and Morehouse General Hospital ICU employees and staff.
