Allan Eppinette officiating. The visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Powell, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017, at the age of 88. He loved his family, horses, dogs, raising a garden, hunting, and bird watching.Mr. Powell retired from the International Paper after 44 years where he worked as a Pulp Mill operator. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Gilly and husband David of Bastrop, LA; grandchildren, Tracy Powell and wife Denise of Fairbanks, Carol Perry and husband Benjy of Bastrop, LA, Grayson Powell and wife Morgan of Swartz, LA; great grandchildren, Cole Perry, Hunter Perry, Ellamee Powell, Luke Powell; sisters, Mary K. Gardner of San Ramon California, Mattie Moore and husband Charles of Bastrop, LA, Margie Box of McGehee, AR, Shirley Sadler and husband Roger of Parkdale, AR; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Powell is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Alma Grice Powell; son, James Gary Powell; four brothers, H.S., Frank, Ben, and Bill Powell; sister, Tommie E. Garcia; parents, Henry Scott and Grace Powell. The Family would like to thank Savannah Cottage and First Choice Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Mr. Powell.
