Joseph Brown Reynolds, III was born August 14, 1937 in Atlanta, Georgia and he passed away peacefully on the morning of March 4, 2026 at Willis Knighten Medical Center in Bossier City, Louisiana. Dr. Reynolds was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a veteran and Captain in the United States Air Force, a world traveler, and a respected and devoted physician and surgeon in Morehouse Parish for many years. He is survived by his cherished spouse, Janice Reynolds, and children Diane Schaffner, Chellie Bacon (spouse Bill), Lisa Robertson (spouse Bill), Yshanne Handy (spouse Scott), Joby Reynolds (spouse Monika), Russell Reynolds (spouse Bristol), Ashley Reynolds, and Kelsey Faulkenbury, who was lovingly raised in the home as a daughter. Also, stepchildren Jana Cannon (spouse Denny) and Vince Faulkenbury (spouse Lisa). He will also be remembered by 27 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and a godchild, Mary Lee Allen. Dr. Reynolds is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Brown Reynolds, Jr. and Gladys Gaudin Reynolds, mother-in-law Edith Grogan, and stepson, Jesse Faulkenbury The pallbearers who will honor his memory include grandsons, Nelson Reynolds, Zackery Schaffner, Garrison Schaffner, Ryan Handy, Christian Handy, Matthew Handy, Joseph Robertson, Riley Faulkenbury, Cole Faulkenbury, and Robert Bacon. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 beginning at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with funeral services, celebrating and honoring Dr. Reynold's life, at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Deacon Marc Vereen officiating. Committal services and interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery of Bastrop under the direction of Cox Funeral Homes. May his memory inspire us and remain close in our hearts as we come together to celebrate his life and the lasting impact he made on each of us.
