Bastrop Daily Enterprise - December 7, 2007 


Funeral services for Mrs. Vonell Phillips Rogers, 68, of Bastrop will be held 

at 10 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of 

Bastrop with the Rev. Garry Massey officiating. Interment will follow in 

Redwing Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. The family will 

receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.



Vonell Phillips Rogers was born October 28, 1939 in Mer Rouge and she died 

December 6, 2007 in Bastrop. She was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church.



Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her parents, James Clarence and Elma 

Devore Roan; her husband, Johnny Ray Phillips; two sisters, Barbara Hilton and 

Wanda Ryder; two brothers, Cecil Roan and LaVelle Roan; and three 

grandchildren.



Mrs. Rogers is survived by her children, Kenneth Phillips and wife Darlene of 

Bastrop, Deborah Sharp and husband Keith of Bastrop, Rhonda Lott and husband 

Mike of Tallulah, La., and Lisa Cooper and husband Bodie of Bastrop; a 

brother, Tommy Roan and wife Stephanie of Monroe, La.; four sisters, Linda 

Crooks of Monroe, Elaine Cascio and husband Carl of Bastrop, Jimmie Coleman 

and husband Wayne of Bastrop, and Pat Rowe and husband Wayne of Monroe; twenty 

grandchildren and five great grandchildren.



Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Chris Clark, Trey Clark, Justin Gray, 

J.C. Phillips, Jeremy Cooper, and Gerald Michael Lott. Honorary pallbearers 

are grandsons Tyler Sharp, Darren Lott, Stephen Middlebrooks, Jerry Gray and 

Sam Smith.
