He lived most of his life in the Monroe and West Monroe area, and spent those years working as a roofer, laying tile, and as a mechanic, and spent several years working at White Rose Laundry. Lord, My God, I called out to you for help. And you healed me. (Ps 30:2) Gary walked a hard road and fought a lifelong battle with many demons. It wasn’t always a losing battle, however, and his true nature of kindness and love was abundant in those times. There are many great memories to be shared and held on to; happy times to reminisce about and lessons to be passed on. Gary loved to fish, loved football, and loved the outdoors. He was witty and creative, and will forever be missed and gratefully remembered by those he leaves behind. He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgie Dean and Dal Rowton, and brothers, Lonnie ‘Ricky’ Rowton. Sr. and Ronnie Rowton. He is survived by his daughter, Amy Rowton Estes and husband John, granddaughters, Alivia Grace Estes and Savana Faith Estes; brothers, Charles Rowton & wife Carolyn and George Rowton & wife Patricia; sisters, Donna Bridges, Kathy McKnight, and Gail Fletcher; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; his former wife, forever love, and mother of his only child, Glenda Kay Rowton; and his brother-from-another-mother and friend until the very end, Terry Bridges. In lieu of a service, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Grace Place Ministries @ 1600 Jackson St., Monroe, LA 71202, Rays of Sonshine, or a recovery program of your choosing. We would also like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff of University Health Conway ICU Department for the compassion and kindness shown to Gary and his family in his final days. In my next life, I want to be your hero… In my next life, I’ll make you proud of me.
