Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 4 PM until 7 PM at Golden Funeral Home. Harold Sawyer was born December 9, 1923, near Beekman, LA, and lived his entire life in Morehouse Parish. He passed from this life on Saturday, December 3, 2016. He was the son of Henry Bussie and Edith Brown Sawyer. He is also preceded in death by three sisters, Margie Sawyer, Aline Robertson, and Geneva DeFransisco; and four brothers, Reuben, Mack, Vernon and Newton Sawyer. He married the love of his life, Betty Dee McLendon Sawyer on August 29, 1945 and they were married sixty-eight years, until her death. Harold was a graduate of Bastrop High School and served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Church of Christ for about seventy years. Mr. Sawyer retired from International Paper Company after forty years. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting, and was a member of the Salter Hunting Club. He is survived by two daughters, Alane Sawyer Cardinal and husband Don Cardinal, and Sharon Sawyer Morris; one granddaughter, Katie Cardinal Garbelman; and one great granddaughter, Anilissia Garbelman; three sisters- in-laws, Dolly Sawyer, Frances Sawyer, and Mimi Sue McLendon Watson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Serving as pallbearers are Butch Coleman, Bill Price, Elva Greer, Glen Taylor, Hugh Dreher, and Roy Dean Sisson. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Gilpatrick, Ralph Jones, Melvin Eubanks, Kenneth Looney, W.M.Matheny and T.G. Kimball.
